Membership & Eligibility

Admission to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by The College chapter in accordance with the bylaws of both the chapter and the national Society. Both require superior scholarship and good character as criteria for membership.

THE HONOR SOCIETY OF PHI KAPPA PHI ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Seniors: Departments may nominate up to 7.5 percent of seniors of exceptional academic quality, of good character, and with a minimum grade point average (g.p.a.) of 3.5 and a class ranking in the top 10 percent. Seniors are defined for this purpose as students with 90 or more earned credit hours, with a minimum of 24 earned credits hours from The College of New Jersey.

Juniors: Candidates are inducted in the junior year from the top 7.5 percent of the junior class based on their cumulative grade point average. Juniors are defined for this purpose as students with 72 earned credit hours, with a minimum of 24 earned credits hours from The College of New Jersey.

Faculty and Staff: The College of New Jersey chapter may elect up to four outstanding faculty or staff members annually. These persons are chosen on the basis of scholarship, professional achievements, and service to higher education. They are nominated by chapter members and, as with student candidates, are discussed and voted on by the members.
